Meet Our Executive Board

Editor-in-Chief: Ashton Taylor Williams

Ashton is originally from Johns Creek, Georgia. She attended NYU for undergrad where she received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. She is very excited to be serving as Editor-in-Chief along with such a talented group of Executive Board members. Her favorite thing about being on the Journal is all of the friendships and connections that she has made. She also loves constantly learning more about all the different areas of intellectual property law. Following graduation, Ashton will be joining the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis as an associate.

Executive Notes Editor: Austin Joseph

Austin is a third-year law student from Waycross, Georgia. He graduated in 2018 from the University of Georgia with a degree in Entertainment and Media Studies, a minor in English, and a Legal Studies Certificate. Austin enjoyed Athens so much during his undergraduate tenure, he decided to make it home for another three years! Austin applied for the JIPL executive board as Executive Notes Editor to encourage and aid students in creating notes they are excited about. He believes that the best notes comes from students who are passionate and genuinely interested in their topics. Austin is looking forward to a great year and an excellent Volume 28!

Senior Notes Editor: Anna Marie Whitacre

Anna Marie is originally from Decatur, Georgia and went to Georgia Tech for undergrad, where she majored in Biochemistry. She loves being on JIPL’s Executive Board because she gets to work with some of her closest friends throughout the publication process and she gets to spend lots of time with her favorite book, the Bluebook. After graduation, Anna will be joining Womble Bond Dickinson’s IP Litigation group.

Executive Articles Editor: Jace Williams

Jace Williams lives in South Atlanta and went to high school in Macon, Georgia. He went to Troy University where he studied international relations and economics. He completed his first year of law school at Stetson University College of Law before transferring to the University of Georgia School of Law. His post-graduation plan is to work for a law firm in the downtown area of Atlanta.

Senior Articles Editor: Charles Turner

Charles “Lawson” Turner grew up in Savannah, Georgia. He attended The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, where he majored in Political Science with minors in Spanish and Philosophy. While a cadet, Lawson became generally interested in Intellectual Property and how lawyers advocate for innovators and creators after he attended a seminar about protecting intangible ideas, specifically patentable inventions. This led him to The Journal of Intellectual Property Law, where he benefits from reviewing the scholarly articles published by the Journal. When asked about his aspirations post-graduation, he said, “I really enjoyed researching and writing my note about protecting military and civilian camouflage and I have always been interested in the affairs of the military. I want to apply the skills I developed while on the Journal and work in the public sector.”

Executive Online Editor: Darshini Nair

Darshini is originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She graduated from Cardiff University, Wales where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Law. She then completed her Master of Law at the University of Georgia before transferring to the JD program. She enjoys being on JIPL’s Exec Board because it provides her with a great avenue to learn from and grow with a group of talented, diverse individuals. Upon graduating, she hopes to work in Atlanta doing transactional work.

Senior Online Editor: Tyler Fabbri

Tyler is originally from Indiana and attended Loyola University Chicago for undergrad, majoring in English. He taught middle school science and writing for four years before law school, and enjoys being on JIPL Executive Board because it gives him another outlet for working with others in their writing. He hopes to work in commercial litigation in Atlanta after graduating.

Managing Editor: Joi Siler

Joi is originally from Bedford, TX. She earned a B.A. in Political Science at Baylor University. She enjoys being on JIPL’s Executive Board because she gets to find talented people to join the Editorial Board and plan social events for all members.  After graduation, Joi plans to work for a medium-large firm in downtown Atlanta.

Executive Editor: Ben Peeler

Ben was born and raised in Sandy Springs, a suburb of Atlanta. He attended UGA from 2013-2017, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology. After graduating, he spent a year working odd jobs in Athens before being accepted into UGA Law. As a 3L, Ben has served as the events coordinator for the Intellectual Property Law Society, and currently serves as the Executive Editor for the Journal of Intellectual Property Law. Ben hopes to work in patent or copyright licensing once he graduates. When not studying, Ben enjoys cooking, going to concerts, and playing board games.
